Internship in International Macroeconomics

The International Economics Division in the Economic Analysis and Research Department analyses international macroeconomic developments relevant to central banking.

We offer interested students, starting from 01.01.2027, with a flexible starting date, a four- to six-month internship with an employment level of 50–100%.

Your tasks

• Supporting the preparation of the regular monetary policy meetings of the ECB Governing Council with analyses of international risks to price and financial stability
• Support with ad hoc requests and analyses of international developments relevant particularly to the euro area
• Contributing to analyses and briefing materials on global and bilateral capital flows, trade, or migration, as well as on international and European capital markets
• Updating and maintaining an R-based database on FDI, as required

Your Background

• Good knowledge of R, as well as knowledge of Stata or comparable statistical software, for data preparation and graphical presentation of data, and for occasional quantitative analyses
• Current enrolment in a Bachelor's degree programme is essential; a Master's or PhD programme is an advantage
• Interest in international developments relating to capital flows, trade, or migration in the context of globalisation and deglobalisation
• Good command of English is required, as both German and English are used as working languages in the division
